As far as I know, SciCalcRPN has no remaining bugs. However, because it is a complete rewrite of version 1.2 of SciCalc, and because I have tested it on only two computers so far (a IIci and a 7100/66), I can't be sure that I've not missed something. If you find any bugs, please let me know as soon as possible. I would like to release a final version by May, 1996.
The only feature that I've not been able to test fully is SciCalcRPN's behavior on systems with multiple monitors. I'm particularly interested in what happens when it is dragged from a color to a black-and-white monitor and vice versa, and what happens when it straddles a color and a black-and-white monitor.
I should also say that I have very little experience using real RPN calculators. I've always preferred TI calculators, but since I had a request to produce an RPN version of SciCalc, and since it was easy to do so, I went ahead and did it. This means that I may have got some of the behavior wrong. I wonder about two things in particular: (1) I gave it a 4 element stack, as seems to be standard in HP calculators. Is this the size people like, or is there interest in a larger stack? It is really just a matter of changing one constant in the source to make the stack any particular size. (2) There seems to be inconsistency in the way that RPN calculators handle the sequence "1 ENT 2 ENT +". Even within the HP stable, some calculators respond 4 and some respond 3. SciCalcRPN responds with a 4. Which behavior do you prefer, or does it not really matter?
I've implemented many of the suggestions I received over the last couple of years. If you have any more suggestions, or I've left off something you wanted, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
